Two Types of Veneers
There are two types of veneers; composite and porcelain.
Porcelain lasts longer and are less likely to stain but cost more.
How are Composite Veneers Made
Composite veneers Toronto are made of a special resin that has the colour of a tooth.
- The dentist puts thin layer after thin layer of composite resin on your tooth after the tooth has had a special mild chemical applied to it first.
- The chemical etches the tooth so that the resin will stick better.
- As each layer is put on it is dried with a special light, when the last layer is put on the front of the tooth and dried it is then polished and shaped by the dentist to look like your natural tooth.
Who can get Composite Veneers?
There are certain people who are not good candidates for veneers.
People who have periodontal disease in the area of where a composite would go are not good candidates.
If there is not enough enamel left or too much of the tooth is missing composite veneers will not work.
The person is a grinder or clencher since it will chip or break the composite veneer.
How long will Composite Veneers last?
Composite veneers last between 5 and 10 years.
You need to take care of the veneers with daily brushing and flossing. Also, you need to be aware of what you are biting; hard foods can damage veneers.
Are composite veneers expensive?
Depending on where you live and what procedures need to be done, veneers can run from $250.00 to $1500.00.
