Cosmetic Dentistry Restores Brilliant Smiles
With so many options to fix imperfect smiles, you don’t have to hide yours any longer. Cosmetic Dentistry has advanced to provide patients, young and old, options that fit their lifestyle, need and budget. With the ultimate goal of improving overall dental aesthetics, such as colour, shape, size, position and alignment, learn more about the options available to you.
Each technique offers its own set of distinct benefits that our dental team, led by Dr. Lily Lo, will discuss with you at your next appointment. Whether you are looking at veneers, dental bonding, teeth whitening, crowns, gum contouring, or even straightening aids, there are simple fixes to restore damaged teeth to their most brilliant state.
“We all know that when we have a straighter, whiter teeth, we smile a little bigger and more often,” says Dr. Lo. “While cosmetic services are about restoring teeth to their best state, we also see a very real shift to our patients’ self-esteem and confidence. As a dental team, we spend a lot of time educating our patients on the options available through Cosmetic Dentistry and allaying fears about potential pain and recovery. So many still believe, falsely, that all dental procedures are invasive. We are working to reverse that thinking.”
Lawrence Avenue Dental Cosmetic Dentistry Services
Offering a wide range of Cosmetic Dentistry services, patients can have the confidence that whatever their need, the Lawrence Avenue team has them covered. Here is a sample of the Cosmetic Dentistry services offered:
Experienced in both traditional braces and Invisible aligners to create a straighter smile. While both have their pros, it often comes down to personal preference for our patients. Never underestimate the allure of those colourful bands used with the traditional braces for your teen. At the end of the day, the result is always the same… a straighter, more efficient smile and bite.
If your teeth are noticeably yellow, think about in-office whitening techniques with Dr. Lo. Compared with at-home procedures, our in-office whitening system allows us control over the custom application of the whitening product as well as precise application of a protective layer over the gum tissue. In-office dental whitening treatments are more effective, extremely safe, faster and generally have few or no side effects at all. Before you try an over-the-counter option, let’s talk.
In some instances of discoloured teeth, small cracks or gum recession, we may recommend dental bonding. A very simple process, often done in one quick visit, Dr. Lo would prepare the damaged tooth, then attach a composite resin, and shape and harden with light. Often more than one tooth can be addressed in a single visit and there is little, if any, recovery time, beyond the slight freezing to the area.
Typically used to correct cavities and minor cracks, or even as an aesthetic cosmetic fix, veneers are very thin shells, typically made of porcelain or composite resin, that are attached to the front of a tooth, creating a seamless and natural look. Naturally strong and stain resistant, veneers are the perfect fix for small cracks, small chips and discolouration whether through damage or age.
Dental Crowns & Bridges
Like a cap that slips right over the tooth, a dental crown is a custom-designed restoration that is fitted over a damaged natural tooth to provide a seamless restoration that acts and looks like natural. If multiple teeth are missing, a bridge is used to fill in those gaps and adheres to the natural teeth on either side of the gap.
Laser Gum Contouring
Gummy smiles may stop you from showing your beautiful smile. Excess gum tissue can make the teeth look small or uneven, but with laser gum reshaping, Dr. Lily Lo can effectively contour your gums, showing off more of your natural teeth, for a beautiful smile.
